The Nebraska Department of Education, the State of Nebraska Office of the Chief Information Officer, Network Nebraska, and the University of Nebraska Information Technology Services are teaming up to make eduroam more broadly accessible across the state of Nebraska through an initiative called .

Our NU ITS team was a collaborative partner in shaping the proposal for this service expansion, which was ultimately one of two proposals selected by Internet2 to join a program that enables regional and state-wide organizations to deploy eduroam beyond higher education institutions to K-12 schools, libraries, and museums. Building on the success of Network Nebraska, in which NU ITS has provided the technical support and expertise for internet connectivity to 293 members, including K-12 schools, libraries, Educational Service Units, and higher education institutions, and 430,000 K-20 learners across the state since 2007, ConnectEd Nebraska now adds the extra convenience of wireless roaming for member institutions choosing to participate. The more member institutions using eduroam, the greater the benefit becomes as students and their families visit a variety of schools and campuses across the state for things like classes, activities, sporting events, and college visits. Once an individual is authenticated into eduroam via their home school credentials, they will be able to automatically connect to WiFi at any other eduroam-connected organization. The program also allows Network Nebraska to sponsor non-educational organizations as eduroam service providers to further increase the reach and value of the program, including organizations such as Allo that currently has made eduroam available at nine non-profits in the Lincoln area.
