Help Grow A Strong Future, Invest in the University

This year, the Nebraska Legislature has convened for the 108th Legislature, 2nd Session for 60 working days to address key issues facing the state.

We have the unique opportunity to demonstrate to the Legislature that Nebraskans believe in our university's ability to address major challenges facing our state and grow our workforce for the future.

From training Nebraska's teachers, healthcare providers and agriculture experts to recruiting and retaining the next generation of our state's workforce, the University of Nebraska System welcomes your help in telling the story of why legislators should invest in public higher education.

Legislation to Watch

The 108th Legislature, 2nd Session began on January 3, 2023. During this 60-day session, lawmakers will introduce bills, resolutions, and constitutional amendments to consider and debate later in the session.

The University of Nebraska System monitors hundreds of legislative bills each year that could impact college affordability, campus operations, research, economic development and our academic programs.

Choosing among many priorities is never easy, but each of these bills represents an important opportunity for the University of Nebraska and our four campuses.

Specific legislation to watch will be posted to the right at the conclusion of bill introduction.

Here’s what you can expect when you join the effort, and how you can make the most of your actions.

Find the handles of your state senators and tag them on posts that talk about how the University of Nebraska has impacted you. Share positive NU news in your feed to help spread the word. Be sure to use our hashtag: #NUforNE.

Look for emails about events like our “I Love NU” Advocacy Day at the State Capitol. Or, attend bill hearings at the Rotunda to get more informed. When NU Advocates show up at the State Capitol, it sends a powerful message to legislators.
