The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will meet Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the Ponderosa Room on the second floor of the Nebraskan Student Union, 1013 W. 27th St. The meeting is open to the public and will also be live-streamed at www.nebraska.edu.
A complete agenda for the meeting is available here.
The meeting will begin with a UNK update from Chancellor Doug Kristensen, followed by an update from Larry Gossen, dean of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. NU System President Ted Carter will provide a University of Nebraska update.
Items for the Board's consideration include:
- A multimedia rights agreement with Playfly Sports Properties, LLC. If approved, the 15-year, exclusive agreement with Playfly would begin Oct. 1 and run through June 30, 2038. The proposed deal is worth $300 million, including almost $275 million in guaranteed revenue. (Addendum XI-B-5)
- An amendment to the university’s operations agreement for Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln to allow for alcohol sales at Husker men’s and women’s basketball games beginning with the 2022-23 season. Regents in February amended their policy on alcohol on university property to allow the president and chancellors to authorize alcohol sales at athletic events on their campuses, subject to Board approval. (Addendum XI-B-6)
- Waivers to Board policy for Memorial Stadium renovations to allow the university to select a program manager, design team and construction firm earlier in the process than what is articulated in Board policy. The more flexible sequencing would allow the athletic director and university leaders to have an expert team at their side from Day 1 of what is expected to be a large, highly complex, rapidly evolving process involving private fundraising, design and construction. (Addendum XI-B-7)
- Plans for an Innovation Hub on the new Saddle Creek Campus of the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The Innovation Hub would provide collaborative space for entrepreneurs, investors and innovators to work together on research and economic growth efforts. (Addendum XI-B-8)
