The University of Nebraska at Kearney hosts the next Campus Conversations event on March 29, 2018. B. Jean Mandernach, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Center for Innovation in Research and Teaching at Grand Canyon University presents Teach Smarter: Maximize Your Impact in the Online Classroom in this webcast event. To be effective, faculty need to know more than WHAT to do; they need the skills, abilities and tools to implement pedagogical strategies in an efficient and effective manner. Mandernach’s presentation will examine the use of learning analytics and instructional technologies to:
- Prioritize teaching tasks
- Streamline repetitive instructional activities
- Guide content development
- Foster more meaningful student interaction
- All without further burdening faculty workload
This campus conversation will be available via webcast for University of Nebraska administrators, faculty and staff.

On April 5, 2018 Campus Conversations will feature Kristi Jensen, Program Development Lead for eLearning Support Initiative at the University of Minnesota Libraries. The event will be held at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln campus with the option of attending in-person or via webcast. Kristi Jensen will present Setting Yourself Up for Success with Open Educational Resources: Find It, Use It, Create and Share It, with the main topic revolving around Open Educational Resources (OERs). Jensen will answer key questions such as:
- What is an OER and why you might consider using it
- How to find OERs that meets your teaching and learning needs
- How you can create and share OERs
- What other faculty are doing with OERs in their classrooms today
The University of Nebraska Online, in partnership with each NU campus, co-hosts a series of talks focused on key topics related to education in the face of rapidly changing technology.
Sessions are held on their respective host campus and streamed live on the web for those who cannot attend in person. Campus Conversations are free for NU employees.
