Meet Kristina Soballe, a graduate of the .
The flexibility of the UNMC program is what drew Soballe to pursue a degree. This allowed her to have enough time to work and make time for her family all while completing coursework.
Not only did she value the flexibility of the program, she also loves the work that UNMC does for the community. “UNMC is a respected part of our community and I wanted to be a part of that work,” she said.
After completing her associate’s in nursing, she realized that in order to make a bigger impact in the industry she would need to advance her career—something that could only be done by furthering her education. She said UNMC made it easy to transfer credit she had already earned from her previous degree.
The program has benefited Soballe in ways beyond juggling work, family and school. “I am much better prepared to be an effective change agent. Each course gave us a deeper understanding of how the health care system is organized, how it operates and how we can make a difference,” she said.
Now that she has a better understanding of how to make a difference, she said she’s excited to make changes on local, national and global levels.
“Now, I have ideas and tools that I can use to affect change in the areas I think are important, both in the hospital setting and at the policy level,” she said.
