Statistics show that diversity is lacking in today’s technology workforce. According to recent numbers from the National Center for Women & Information Technology, women make up only 25% of tech industry employees, down from 36% in 1991. This trend rings true on university campuses; in 2014, only 17% of computer science bachelor’s degrees were earned by female students, down from 37% in 1985.
is an IT leadership conference that will be held at the Nebraska Innovation Campus on November 7-8, 2016. This one and a half day conference is open to the public.
Keynote speakers include Karen Catlin, Women in Tech advocate, Donde Plowman, UNL’s College of Business Administration Dean and Brad McClain, Social Scientist, National Center for Women in IT. Workshops will be hosted by the noted podcast team, “Women Who Wine in Education.”
