Dear Colleagues,
Next week you will receive an email from Gallup inviting you to participate in a university-wide campus climate survey. We are writing to encourage you to complete the survey to help us gain a broad assessment of our strengths and opportunities in making the University of Nebraska a great place to teach, study and serve.
The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete, and may be done from your desktop or smartphone. It will be open for four weeks. You’ll be asked for your opinions on areas like workplace satisfaction, diversity and inclusion, and communication. Your answers will be completely confidential, so we’d ask you to be as candid as possible.
A separate survey assessing our students’ experience will be sent to all University of Nebraska students during the same time period.
Ultimately, each campus will use the aggregate data to develop action plans for building a more engaging, inclusive, welcoming environment for all members of our University community. Where particular colleges or units show areas of strength, we may learn best practices that can be applied elsewhere. Importantly, this year’s survey will also create a baseline set of data for us that we can use for comparison in future years to assess whether the strategies we develop are making a difference.
It is one of our highest priorities to make the University of Nebraska an outstanding place for our faculty and staff – our greatest asset – to work. We know there is always room to do more. We also recognize it is not enough to simply state our commitment to improvement. We must also turn our intent into action. Your voice matters in that regard, and we will rely on your feedback to help us become a stronger university.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to participate in this important process, and thank you for all you do for the University of Nebraska.
Sincerely,
Ted Carter
