President Gold considers the people of the University of Nebraska System—our faculty, staff and students—to be our greatest asset, and a key priority in making investments. The initiatives below support the needs of the NU family and ensure that their voices are heard.
Emergency Assistance Fund
The University of Nebraska System's Emergency Assistance Fund enables the university to help currently enrolled students and current university employees (faculty and staff) who face financial hardship resulting from emergency or crisis situations such as natural disasters, home displacement, and food insecurity.
University-Wide Climate Study
In fall 2021, the Office of the President initiated a university-wide climate study in partnership with Gallup. It was the first in what will become a routine climate assessment, providing a baseline against which campuses and the system can measure progress over time. The data informs ongoing strategic planning efforts with regard to campus climate, the student experience and the goal of making the university an employer of choice for all.
