Budget Response Initiative

Travel

What We Do

Travel is an integral part of the University in its mission of education, research and outreach. Connecting with the University’s many constituencies, whether it be within our 500 mile state-wide campus or executing on our national and global initiatives, is vital to our success – as is investigating, learning and sharing worldwide. At the same time, we must be cognizant of the need to wisely use resources and have a system that is easy for our people to use, helps monitor traveler safety, and achieves accountability objectives.

What’s Happening Now

U-Wide Travel Policy - Approved

The Travel BRT has released a proposed university-wide travel policy that standardizes travel protocol across the campuses, ensuring that the same requirements for booking, expenses and other travel-related areas apply to all employees.

The Travel BRT now invites faculty and staff feedback on the proposed policy. Following this feedback period, the policy is scheduled to take effect July 1, 2018.

Travel BRT members will visit each campus to share details of the proposed policy, answer questions and solicit input. All members of the university community are welcome. Dates, times and location of campus presentations are:

  • University of Nebraska-Lincoln: Tuesday, Jan. 16, 4-5 p.m., Nebraska Union Colonial A&B
  • University of Nebraska at Omaha: Wednesday, Jan. 17, 4-5 p.m., Mammel Hall Auditorium
  • University of Nebraska Medical Center: Thursday, Jan. 18, 4-5 p.m., Durham Research Center I, Room 1002. (Livestream will be available .)
  • University of Nebraska at Kearney: Friday, Jan. 19, 3-4 p.m., Copeland Hall Room 142

Faculty and staff are also invited to submit feedback electronically to travel@nebraska.edu, to Travel BRT Chair Laura Gonnerman at lgonnerman@nebraska.edu, or Marjorie Kostelnik, senior associate to the president who is leading implementation of the BRT strategies, at mkostelnik@nebraska.edu.
