The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) & Student Funds @headingTag>
The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) provides funding to colleges and universities for students and for institutional costs related to COVID-19. These funds are being distributed in two phases, with aid to students being released first.
Allocations to each college and university were determined by the Department of Education (DoED) and the CARES Act, based on student enrollment and weighted toward the number of students who received a federal Pell Grant. These emergency grants will be distributed to students by their colleges and universities.
How HEERF Funds are Distributed@headingTag>
At least half of the HEERF funds received by each institution must be used to provide emergency financial assistance grants to currently enrolled students for college-related expenses due to the coronavirus disruption. The remaining half of the allocated funds may be used for institutional costs related to coronavirus.
