The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will hold a special meeting on Thursday, Oct. 19, at Varner Hall, 3835 Holdrege St. in Lincoln, and by videoconference. The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. The meeting is open to the public and will also be live-streamed at www.nebraska.edu.
The Board will consider the composition of a Presidential Search Advisory Committee (Addendum VII-A-1) to help guide the search for the next NU System president. Current President Ted Carter is stepping down on Dec. 31. In accordance with Board bylaws, the search advisory committee will assist the Board in identifying potential candidates for the position, soliciting input from key constituencies with which the president interacts, and identifying desired qualifications and characteristics of the next president.
The Board earlier this month approved the selection of Academic Search, a professional executive search firm, to assist in the search process.
A detailed agenda for the Oct. 19 Board meeting, including the full list of individuals to be considered for the presidential search committee, is available here.
