Dr. Jackson helps facilitate research collaborations across the University of Nebraska campuses, has responsibility for helping administer the Nebraska Research Initiative (an annual $11.5 million State of Nebraska investment designed to seed new University research), supervises the Director of Nebraska EPSCoR and the Director of NU Export Control, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Nebraska Strategic Research Institute. He also assists campuses in obtaining Board of Regents and Nebraska Coordinating Commission approvals for new degrees/majors and organizational units.
He has been with the University of Nebraska for over 30 years, starting as an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Department of Food Science & Technology in January 1989. A cereal chemist with expertise in food processing, corn/sorgum grain quality and polymer chemistry, he has held research, extension, and teaching appointments as a professor, and has served as the Interim Department Head of Food Science, Associate Dean of the Agricultural Research Division, and Interim Provost.
Dr. Jackson’s undergraduate degree is from Cornell University and his M.S./Ph.D. degrees are from Texas A&M University.
