Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,
As we plan for the future, it is important to have a strategic framework clearly articulating the principles, values and desired outcomes we share as a united University of Nebraska. For the past two months, university leadership has been working to develop an outline of that framework. I’m writing you today seeking your feedback on what we have put together so far, as well as your ideas on how we can make this document stronger.
In December I shared the pillars that will guide us as we develop the University of Nebraska’s next strategic plan. Those pillars are:
- Extraordinary Teaching and Learning: Creating innovative and impactful educational experiences.
- Extraordinary Research and Creative Activity: Driving discovery and innovation to address critical challenges.
- Extraordinary Partnerships and Engagement: Strengthening collaborations that benefit both rural and urban communities.
- Extraordinary Culture and Environment: Building a dynamic and supportive university community.
- Extraordinary Stewardship and Effectiveness: Ensuring responsible and sustainable use of our resources.
Since then, university leadership has identified 16 strategies to advance the pillars listed above, which are outlined here. My hope is that you will see yourself, your work, and your departments, centers and programs—and most importantly, our future—reflected in this document. That said, your insight on how to improve these strategies or fill gaps in this document would be enormously helpful and much valued. To provide feedback, please use this form. Please share your feedback by Thursday, Feb. 27.
Over the upcoming months, we will share more information about the strategic framework as we look to align our work and continue on our Odyssey to Extraordinary.
Thank you for your help in creating our shared strategic plan—and as always, for all you do.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D.
President, University of Nebraska System
