On behalf of the Board of Regents, I am pleased to recognize Megan Fryda, UNK Director of Academic Resources & Institutional Resources. A 19-year employee, Megan was first hired as a student worker in 2001, and as a full-time member of UNK’s staff in 2003. She’s done so many things: first serving in the Center for Distance Education, then Video Services, then Informational Technology, then Institutional Research, and in 2018 she was promoted to her current position. Each move brought a new learning curve, a push out of her comfort zone, and invaluable experience. “One of my strengths is dedication,” Megan says, “and I am very dedicated to UNK.” Colleagues admire her enthusiastic, can-do attitude. Senior Vice Chancellor Charles Bicak notes other strengths as well. “She is a wonderful colleague who displays innate intelligence, a high work ethic and a personable demeanor. That’s a genuine trifecta of admirable traits,” he says.
Megan’s work includes collecting and interpreting data, converting it into information to help achieve the campus mission, and to enable assessment, accreditation and planning; responsibility for tactical and strategic direction of Institutional Research function and insuring data accuracy and integrity; assisting the Senior Vice Chancellor with fiscal and personnel management; and administration of Digital Measures Faculty Information System. Though not her most recent project, implementation of Digital Measures and the corresponding interaction with academic colleges and faculty stand out as an accomplishment which brought especial pride and satisfaction. Originally from Grand Island, Megan earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees from UNK. She is a previous recipient of UNK’s Staff Award For Excellence, currently serves on the University-wide Benefits Committee and has been active on other committees as well. “I truly love working at UNK,” she says, “and I’m super honored to have been selected for KUDOS recognition.” – The Board of Regents is honored, too, to present this award to Megan for outstanding service to the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
