On behalf of the Board of Regents, I am pleased to present a KUDOS Award to Luther Mardock, Accreditation and Assessment Coordinator in the Office of Academic Affairs at UNMC.
As many of us know, accreditation provides proof that higher educational institutions meet the standards needed for teaching and training students. Luther was instrumental, his nominator said, in helping UNMC recently complete – and meet without a glitch – all accreditation criteria in the year four assurance review with the North Central Higher Learning Commission. The review is part of the Open Pathway 10-year cycle leading up to comprehensive evaluation in 2026-27.
Said his nominator: “Luther helped anchor and did most of the ‘heavy lifting’ for our accreditation team.” He specifically:
- Helped improve the process for gathering, tracking, and retaining materials for university-wide accreditation.
- Supported a campuswide accreditation team in shifting how they functioned during the pandemic with little to no disruption in the data and evidence gathering process.
- Was responsible for writing almost all the initial drafts, revisions, and the final version of the submitted documents.
- Worked diligently over the past four years to support a campuswide assessment culture that was lauded by the reviewers.
UNMC leaders said accreditation was granted without a single citation made about the campus. In fact, the lead reviewer, during the exit interview, said: "This is the most straight forward and uncomplicated review I have ever done."
Luther’s nominator praised his work and organizational skills, then added: “Luther has not stopped, but is continuing to prepare all the needed documents and evidence toward ensuring the full comprehensive evaluation is just as successful.”
Today, Luther is accompanied by his supervisor, Dr. Kendra Schmid.
Please join me in thanking Luther for his diligence and dedication to UNMC and the high standards of the accreditation process.
