On behalf of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents, it is my pleasure to recognize UNK Kudos Award recipient Shawn Lienemann, Senior Workstation Support Specialist for Client Services in the division of Information Technology Services. Shawn’s position is described as having dual roles.
In one, he provides primary technology support for the College of Education. “Unmatched technical support,” says Dean of Education Mark Reid, due to his “vast technical understanding and the ability to work with people with a variety of technical knowledge.” He supports, implements, researches, and designs all technology within the College. He is the primary contact for A/V projects, digital signage implementations, print server management, SharePoint/Teams support and design, and EMS Web Scheduling.
In his second role, he works with the main ITS desktop support group and with fellow college techs to provide efficiencies and specific campus support. Shawn is on everyone’s call list when tech help is needed.
Shawn earned his baccalaureate degree in Management of Information Systems and his MBA, both from UNK. After three years in ITS as a student he began work as a full-time employee in 2013. Important contributions to two significant ITS migrations include the Unified Network implementation and Box-to-Sharepoint, assuring that the needs of each building, department, and college were met. He works with students new to UNK’s Kearney Health Opportunities Program or KHOP and Thompson Scholar programs. His service is invaluable on committees such as the College of Education Technology Committee, ITS Strategic Sourcing Committee, ITS Computer Standards Evaluation Committee, and others. He is a previous recipient of the UNK Employee Achievement Award and the UNK Technology Excellence Award. With Shawn today is Supervisor and Chief Information Officer Andrea Childress.
Thank you, Shawn. What you do each day matters and the University is a better place because of you. Congratulations!
