On behalf of the Board of Regents, I am pleased to present a KUDOS Award to Debbie Vidlak, a research project coordinator in the Clinical Trials Office at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Debbie has been instrumental in helping to elevate and support the clinical trials work being done at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine and has created new Standard Operating Procedures that streamline processes and improve outdated ones.
Debbie has worked at UNMC for more than 25 years. In her role, she also trains new project coordinators and onboards physicians, who work with the Clinical Trials Office to make progress against diseases by testing the safety and efficacy of potential new medicines.
“She’s a great resource for all,” one nominator said. “If I need advice or guidance, I go right to Debbie. She listens without judgment and provides fantastic solutions,” a nominator said.
Debbie is also passionate about recycling, and she voluntarily serves as a LiveGreen ambassador to promote sustainability initiatives at the med center. “She is conscientious about the work environment,” one of her nominators said, encouraging office colleagues to recycle and practice energy curtailment. Said one nominator: “She is the first one to close the blinds and ensure we are all doing our part to make this world a better place.”
Beyond work, Debbie has a passion for animals and works for a cat rescue, where she can be found caring for several kittens at any given time.
Today, she is joined by her spouse, Paul Vidlak and Susan Blumel, Research Nurse Manager in the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office. Join me in thanking Debbie for her commitment to supporting the important work that is clinical trials, and for helping make the UNMC Clinical Trials Office processes more efficient.
