The listing below includes the medications covered by the EmpiRx Health formulary as of 2024 (there could be modifications to this list in future years).
Please note that not all drug coverage categories will be covered by the University health plan. Please call EmpiRx Health at 833-419-3436 if you would like to confirm if your specific prescription is covered by your health plan.
Pharmacy Network
There is 65,000 pharmacies nationwide that are in the EmpiRx Health pharmacy network. Below is a listing of some of the major in-network pharmacies and pharmacies that are not currently in the EmpiRx Health network.
Nebraska Medicine Special Pharmacy
University of Nebraska health plan members can use the Nebraska Medicine Specialty Pharmacy for their medications. Please visit the Nebraska Medicine Specialty Pharmacy website:
- The benefits of using the Specialty Pharmacy for your medication needs include:
- Working with your insurance company to complete prior authorizations
- Financial counseling and assistance for high copays
- Patient training, education, resources, and counseling
- Coordination of your care and regular communication with your providers
- Individual refill reminders to assist medication compliance
- Free medication delivery services
The Nebraska Medicine Specialty Pharmacy provides comprehensive services for filling specialty medications for complex medication therapies that require additional monitoring by a pharmacist. They offer access to clinically trained pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Specialty Pharmacy is located within the pharmacy of the Durham Outpatient Center.

Mail Order Pharmacy
EmpiRx Health uses Prescription Mart for mail and specialty pharmacy fulliment. Mail order is an option for you to obtain maintenance medications.
To order refills, you have three options:
- Online: visit or the app to register and login. Select Prescriptions, Recent Prescriptions, and Select Refill.
- Phone: Call Member Services at 833-419-3436
- Mail: Send the Refill Request Order Form provided with your last shipment to Prescription Mart in the pre-addressed envelope.
HRA Completion and EmpiRx Health
Employees who completed the Wellstream Health Risk Assessment (HRA) during the NUFlex Benefits enrollment period have the following additional pharmacy benefits:
- $0 copay for flu shots administered at an in-network pharmacy and submitted to the prescription drug program
- $0 copay for generic prescription drugs non-specialty through the EmpiRx Health mail service program with no annual deductible
