The University of Nebraska System State Relations Council is responsible for coordinating state governmental affairs and serves as the primary point of contact for the legislature and all state government agencies. The State Relations Council promotes the interests of all four University of Nebraska System campuses with our elected officials in Lincoln, as well organizations across the state.
The State Relations Council works to increase support for the university’s mission by highlighting the NU System's contributions to research, education, public service, and the economy.
As the University of Nebraska System is a state-funded agency, with approximately one-fourth of the operating budget coming from state funds, our team meets regularly with legislators to provide information on the financial needs of the university, as well as a variety of policy issues that impact higher education in our state.
The office advocates at the state legislature for NU's budget and capital requests and monitors all legislation impacting the University of Nebraska System and our affiliates.
