The Office of the General Counsel provides legal advice and guidance on a myriad of compliance issues. Key topics include Research Compliance and Misconduct; Health Law; Export Control; ADA, FERPA, HIPPA, Title IX, GLBA, HEOA, Clery Act; NCAA Compliance; and Environmental Health and Safety.
Additionally, the Office of the General Counsel reviews and participates in analysis of conflicts of interest in accordance with the Board of Regents Bylaws and Policies. The Office of the General Counsel cooperates and works with other members of the University to assure prompt response to ethics issues.
The Office of the General Counsel responds to questions and requests for information and research on the myriad rules and regulations affecting the diverse activities of the University of Nebraska System. These include general statutes and regulations, as well as specific technical rules. The office works with departments and divisions to answer questions and assist in compliance.
